about

Dansa is the second part of a two part composition, leading from my discovery that I was very depressed about my father's death to my resolution to start my journey to redemption

lyrics

Bráðum kemur betri tíð
með blóm í haga og bleikar kýr
sem dansa fram á nótt.

Við skulum vera góð og blíð,
því senn líður að sláturtíð
og dansa, það verður dansað.

Dansa, hvað er betra en að dansa?

Vetrarnóttin köld og dimm
en bráðum læðist sólin inn
og dansar fram á nótt.

Þá hverfa ljótar hugsanir
og hörfa allir skuggarnir
og dansa, þeir munu dansa.

Dansa, hvað er betra en að dansa?

Allt sem hvarf og allt sem dó
mun bráðum hulið undir snjó
sem dansar fram á nótt.

Allar sorgir, öll mín eymd
mun bráðum verða grafin gleymd
og dansa, við munum dansa.

Dansa, hvað er betra en að dansa.

English translation:
Soon we will have better times
with flowers in the fields and pink cows
that dance into the night.

We shall be good and sweet,
for soon it is the time for slaughter
and dance, there will be dance.

Dancing, what is better than dancing?
Dancing, what is better than dancing, tonight?

The winter's night is cold and dark
but soon the sun will sneak inside
and dance into the night.

Then all our terrible thoughts will dissappear
and all the shadows will retreat
and dance, they will dance!

Dancing, what is better than dancing?
Dancing, what is better than dancing tonight?

All that dissapeared and all that died
will soon be covered under snow
that dances into the night.

All the sorrows, all my misery
will soon be buried and forgotten
and dance, We will dance.

Dancing, what is better than dancing?
Dancing, what is better than dancing tonight?

Svavar Knutur

A troubadour of humble beginnings and rural upbringing, Svavar Knútur's music tells stories of love, tragedies, sadness and redemption, looking back at his country's sad and shame-filled history. His voice always seem to strike a chord with his audiences, along with his decadently charming on-stage persona, his concerts at times comprised of stories within stories and songs within songs. ... more
